Throwback Thursday: It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

On this day in history, October 27, 1966, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown premiered on CBS. 

I have to be honest, I didn't really grow up on the Peanuts specials the way others did, and the Halloween special is definitely not as popular as the hallowed Christmas special, which gave us the iconic Vince Guaraldi soundtrack. 

However, there's something to Linus' dogged belief in The Great Pumpkin, and his insistence to wait up in the pumpkin patch until he appears, that speaks to childlike faith in the unseen. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown runs on TV every year and has solidified itself in history as an annual fall special.
